What you’re in for
A 5km, a 10km and — new for 2027 — a half marathon through Thetford Forest from High Lodge, the Forestry England centre on the Norfolk–Suffolk border between Cambridge and Norwich. Second year of the event, in April. The 5km is 5.0km, the 10km 10.0km, the half 21.1km. Thetford is the largest lowland pine forest in Britain and about as flat as forest gets, so the half is a fast one. Chip timed, fully supported, pitched at first-timers as much as regulars.
Terrain and trail
Forest ride and sandy track between the pines, with some rooty single-track and grass. The sand is the thing: dry, it is soft and slow; wet, it packs and runs fast. Flat throughout. Road shoes with tread are fine.
