What you’re in for

Maverick's home ground and their longest race. The 100km starts at Hardy Monument and follows the South Dorset Ridgeway to Osmington, picks up the South West Coast Path past Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove, and then joins the 50km at Corfe. The 50km starts just outside Corfe Castle at Burnbake, crosses the marsh to the coast, passes Old Harry Rocks, follows the Purbeck Way along the ridges, goes right down to the tip of Purbeck past Winspit Quarry and up the steps at St Aldhelm's Head, and comes home on the Hardy Way over Knowle Hill with the castle in view. The 50k Ultra is 52.0km with 951m of climb; the 100k is 99.8km with 1,909m. October. The 100km is excluded from the multi-buy discounts. Camping at Burnbake at the start and finish.

Terrain and trail

Technical terrain, long steep climbs and descents, in the organiser's rating. Purbeck is chalk ridge, clifftop path, quarry track and heath; the coast path west of Lulworth on the 100km is the steepest ground on the south coast, a succession of huge climbs straight off the beach. October means it can be greasy. GPS tracking on both routes, full kit, a trail shoe with grip. Maverick's format on every event: a fully marked course, outposts stocked with Precision Fuel & Hydration and a spread of sweet and savoury food as a top-up for what you carry, no cups (bring one), a bag drop, an event village with food and a non-alcoholic beer at the end. Mandatory kit is checked on the longer routes.
