What you’re in for
A 5km and a 10km on the south side of Derwent Reservoir at Edmundbyers, on the Durham–Northumberland border, run alongside Wild Deer's duathlons on the same May morning. Pitched at people new to trail running and it is the right race for that: a big, open water to run beside, and paths that let you run. The 5km is 5.0km and the 10km is 10.0km. Northumbrian Water's reservoir, with Derwent Waterside Park as the base.
Terrain and trail
Firm trails and footpaths for most of it, with sections on grass and through woodland. Flat to gently rolling along the shore. Signed and marshalled, and fine in a road shoe if the week has been dry.
