Cragg Runner Race You To The Summit

The course

What you’re in for

A four-mile Halloween fell race from the Summit Inn at Littleborough, 6.9km with 244m of climb — eight hundred feet — up onto the moor and back to the pub. Short enough to race flat out, steep enough that most people walk the first half of the climb, and the pub is the finish line.

Terrain and trail

Steep moorland path and track straight off the road, boggy on top, fast and loose coming down. Fell-race rules: navigate yourself. A fell shoe.

Train for it: routes near the start

Routes starting within 20 km of Summit Inn, Littleborough, nearest first. Each one has a free GPX file and a TRP grade, so you can rehearse the ground before race day.

You climb from a canal in the valley floor to a 37m stone monument on the moor edge, and the view back over Calderdale from the base of the Pike is worth every metre of the climb.
