What you’re in for

Two different 50 km loops start from the community centre at Old Town above Hebden Bridge. The Red Rose heads into Lancashire past Widdop, Worsthorne and Towneley Park, then climbs over the Cliviger moors to Gaddings Dam and Stoodley Pike; most of its climbing comes in the second half and it is the rougher of the two. The White Rose goes over Walshaw Moor towards Haworth and Bingley, through Cottingley Woods and past Ogden Water, with more road and gentler ground. The 100 km does both, with HQ as the halfway checkpoint, a drop bag and hot food, and a mandatory head torch for the second loop. Checkpoints are roughly every 10 km. Carry a map or route printout; no support or pacers.
