What you’re in for

A late-season ultra from Wadsworth, above Hebden Bridge. The 40-mile loop starts at 7am and climbs to Stoodley Pike early, then runs roughly half on open moorland and half on quiet lanes and tracks before finishing back on the moor. Two of the four checkpoints are indoors, with proper toilets. The 80-mile race is two laps, with HQ serving as the fifth checkpoint, soup at halfway and a drop bag allowed there. There is a 28-hour limit (out of CP8 by 8am Sunday), so runners see both sunset and sunrise; the 40 has no cut-off. Expect October weather on the tops. Hot food and a medal at the finish.
