The course

What you’re in for

Twenty-nine kilometres from Patterdale with 2,050m of ascent over St Sunday Crag and the surrounding eastern fells, technical with mild scrambling — parts of the old Lakes Sky Ultra with new sections added. A nine o'clock start in mid-July, ten hours, one feed station and eight manned checkpoints, on the same day as the Helvellyn Sky Ultra and the Pinnacle Ridge. A good introduction to sky racing if you have the head for the ground but not yet the legs for the ultra.

Terrain and trail

Steep grassy fell and rocky ridge on St Sunday Crag, stone-pitched path and scree, short easy scrambling, and open fell between. Fully marked. Mountain kit list. A fell shoe with grip.
