The course
What you’re in for
Day three of the MTC Severn Challenge, also a standalone race and the longest stage. It leaves the Premier Inn in Shrewsbury and follows the Severn through Atcham, Cressage and the Ironbridge Gorge. From there it continues past Bridgnorth, Upper Arley, Bewdley, Stourport and Holt Heath to the Travelodge in Worcester. The ground is largely flat riverside path and fields, with some stretches away from the water. The path can be overgrown and the signs hidden, so carry the GPX. Four checkpoints close on a 4 mph basis. Neither the start nor the finish hotel has parking.
