What you’re in for

A 5km, a 5 Mile, a 10 Mile or a 15 Mile in the private Lambton Estate at Chester-le-Street in August. The estate is normally closed to the public and this is one of the few ways in: woodland, open parkland, estate roads and the castle, with the herd of wild deer that the organiser is named after. Dogs welcome — it is run canicross-friendly. The 5km is 5.4km with 60m of climb, the 5 Mile 8.7km and 92m, the 10 Mile 16.5km and 163m, the 15 Mile 24.1km — the 10 Mile route plus the 5 Mile loop. Start times are approximate until the final information.

Terrain and trail

Woodland track, grassy fields, firm paths and private estate roads, moderately undulating with no big hills. August means firm and fast, with the grass sections the only soft ground. A road shoe with tread or a light trail shoe.
