What you’re in for
A half marathon and a 12K from the riverside field at Burnsall in mid-April, on riverside path, stone track and open field with several stretches of the Dales Way — Appletreewick and Hebden on the way, and views across Wharfedale from the high ground. The half has about 500m of climb and starts at ten; two drink stations with water, juice, fruit and sweets. Fully waymarked, seventeen and over, and pitched by the organiser at people new to trail running with enough in it for those who are not. The first of the Due North trilogy, with Kettlewell and Malham to follow.
Terrain and trail
Riverside path along the Wharfe, walled stone track, grassy field and moor edge. Muddy on the fields in April, firm on the tracks, nothing technical. A trail shoe.
