NAV4 Adventure LAW 75

The course

What you’re in for

Seventy-five miles of Lady Anne's Way from Skipton Castle to the Market Cross in Appleby, from a nine o'clock Saturday start to a Sunday finish: up Wharfedale through the Dales, over into Wensleydale, and west into Cumbria and the upper Eden valley. Three big indoor checkpoints at Kettlewell (23 miles), Askrigg (38) and Winton by Kirkby Stephen (61), with smaller ones every six to eight miles between. On established footpaths, bridleways and trails, much of it with the route's own waymarkers, and relatively easy to follow with a map, the route notes and the GPX — but self-navigated, with a night section, and a full winter kit list.

Terrain and trail

Riverside path and walled field track in Wharfedale, the moorland crossing into Wensleydale, dale-bottom lane and field path, then the limestone and moor of Mallerstang and the Eden valley meadows. Wet in the fields, exposed on the moor crossings, and a night on it for everyone. A trail shoe with grip.
